The publication of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows marks the completion of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter saga and Royal Mail is marking this with the issue of a set of 7 stamps featuring the book covers. A miniature sheet of 5 stamps depicting the Hogwarts School Crest and the crest of the 4 houses was also issued.
|
The set of 7 stamps will
have designs based on the book covers: The stamps will be issued in a strip of 7 and are split here only for display purposes. |

Miniature sheet of 5 x 1st class stamps showing the Hogwarts crest and the crests of the 4 school houses Hufflepuff, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. |
Julietta Edgar, head of special stamps at the Royal Mail, said: "There's no doubt that JK Rowling's Harry Potter novels, published in dozens of languages worldwide, have made a phenomenal impact on our reading habits."
Royal Mail will also issue a
Smilers Sheet containing the crest stamps in the miniature sheet. These
will be self-adhesive and printed by Cartor in lithography using
thermachromic ink.
First sight of the Harry Potter Generic sheet is shown here: design of
this product is still subject to change. The first picture shows the
'cold' sheet with the names of the spells. The second picture shows the
spells, as revealed when the thermachromic ink is warmed.
There will be 20 different label/stamp combinations, requiring 4 FDCs.

The stamps and miniature sheet
were designed by True North, and are printed by Walsall Security
Printers. The normal sheet stamps are a maximum of 27 x 37mm and are
printed in lithography. The miniature sheet (123x70mm) is printed by
lithography with stamps 20 x 24mm.
