Prestige Stamp Book
The book explores and celebrates
British achievement at
the Olympic and Paralympic Games
and includes a brief history of how the
modern Games were conceived. Packed with
photos and images plus four stamp panes
not available anywhere else. All
panes are gummed. The definitive
pane has darker 1st class stamps than the pale orange shown, close to
the sheet and booklet self-adhesive stamps but slightly paler.
The 20g airmail stamps are a good match. The Sports stamps on
the other three panes look very similar to the stamps issued
previously in sheets and have the same perforation as before, with
all-over phosphor. The shade differences are minor, and the
micro-printed years remain the same as on the original stamps. The
se-tenant combinations are, of course, new.
Available as a limited edition of 1,948, the Heritage Pack features a full set of genuine mint 1948 Olympic stamps and a 1948 half crown together with lots of facts and images relating to the 1948 Olympic Games held in London.
The Facsimile pack, written by Douglas Muir, includes details of the selection process and unadopted designs from the 20 artists and printers who were invited to submit designs for consideration by the Stamps Advisory Committee of the time. A non-postally valid Facsimile Sheet of the four stamps printed in gravure as a block of four.
Technical details:
The miniature sheet is designed by hat-trick,
and is printed in litho by "Walsall/Cartor" Security Printing*.

* This is as described by Royal Mail;
nearer the date of issue we may know whether the sheet is printed by
Cartor or by parent company Walsall.
