Classic Locomotives of Scotland: Miniature Sheet - 8 March 2012

Following on from the Great British Railways, issued 19 August 2010, and the England miniature sheet in February 2011 this is the second of a series of Miniature Sheets that illustrates steam locomotives in use in each of the home countries.

The earliest railways in Scotland were built for commercial and industrial purposes to convey coal to local waterways, and Classic Locomotives of Scotland features steam locomotives used not just on the public railway network, but also in many industrial locations like factories, quarries and docks.  The Miniature Sheet margin shows the LNER Class K2 2-6-0 crossing Glenfinnan Viaduct with a Fort William-to-Mallaig train, 1947.
